What does the treatment involve?

Prior to treatment either a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the lip area to help reduce any discomfort or a dental block can be used to temporarily numb the area.  The filler is injected along the border of the lips and/or into the lip body. The treatment takes about 15 minutes, giving instant results. 

The result usually lasts for 6 months.

Immediately after treatment, there might be slight redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is usually only temporary, and will disappear after a few days. The initial swelling to the lips may last longer and the final result is generally after one week. Patients who are prone to cold sores may have an outbreak. PATIENTS WHO HAVE A COLD SORE CANNOT BE TREATED UNTIL IT HAS FULLY HEALED.
