What is Glycolic acid?

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxyacid (AHA), which is a natural fruit acid. It is derived from sugar cane juice. Numerous clinical studies in the use of AHA’s have demonstrated their benefits in improving skin appearance and texture.

At Medical Beauty Enhancements we use medical strength glycolic acid.

What Does The Treatment Involve?

The glycolic acid is placed onto the skin for a few minutes and then neutralised.  The tiny AHA molecules penetrate the skin quickly and efficiently to deeply exfoliate the skin and to boost collagen and elastin production.  During the process a tingling and mild stinging sensation is experienced, this shows that the glycolic acid is penetrating the skin.  The whole process only takes 15-20 minutes.  

With subsequent treatments either the strength or the duration of the glycolic acid to the skin is increased.  The aim is to build up to the maximum strength of glycolic acid to yield maximum results.

What Results Can I expect?

The peels leave the skin feeling noticably smoother and looking more healthy and radiant.  They improve the skins clarity, tone and glow.
